Announcing New Navigable High-Resolution Images of SicilyJune 11, 2002The Perseus Digital Library is pleased to announce the release of new navigable high-resolution photographs of Sicily by Nigel Pollard. The series features 592 images of Agrigento, Gela, Segesta, Selinus, and Syracuse. The collection of photographs is integrated with several reference works in the Perseus Digital Library. Select images are accessible through the thumbnail browser section of corresponding entries in the Perseus Building Catalog, the Perseus Site Catalog, and the online Princeton Encyclopedia of Classical Sites. Alternatively, the entire series can be accessed at once through the Perseus Table of Contents. The new images implement the Perseus Tiles system, which allows them to be viewed at three resolutions: small (600 x 400 pixels), medium (1650 x 1100 pixels), and large (3300 x 2200 pixels). The images display in their entirety at the small setting; magnified areas display at the medium and large settings. We welcome your feedback and comments on this new resource.
