Quicktime VR and Roman PerseusWith the support of this NEH grant, the Perseus Project will extend its photographic and textual documentation of art objects, providing students and scholars with new tools including object and panorama Quicktime VR movies. In collaboration with the Harvard University Art Museums, we have produced several demonstration Quicktime VR movies of the Roman gallery in the Arthur M. Sackler Museum at Harvard. These movies demonstrate the kind of virtual reality resources we plan to build under this new grant. Our work on these virtual walkthroughs was partially inspired by the great virtual tours of the Oriental Institute in Chicago. Click on a picture to go to the movie's page. To view these movies, you will need the QuickTime VR Component for Netscape Navigator 3.0 on Mac OS or Windows 3.1, 95, or NT, or the QTVR Player for the same platforms, available from the same source.
