The latest red-figure vases date ca. 430 B.C., and in his Late phase the
artist decorated only smaller shapes, such as
Nolan amphora and lekythoi.
Many of his most trivial works, small
squat lekythoi with busts of figures,
come from around this time. One in Oxford[17]
with the bust of Artemis is a typical example. Many others were produced by
other painters in his workshop, all anonymous except for several by the
Phiale Painter, his student.
