Greek Vase Painter Essays
e-mail us problems and comments | copyright statement
These essays were written by art historians specifically for inclusion in
Perseus. Vase painters were selected to represent a mix of well-known and
lesser-known artists, first, to make students aware of the range in quality
of vase painting, and second, because essays on lesser painters would be
less likely to duplicate studies already in print. The artists were also
chosen to represent important phases of development in Greek vase painting,
particularly in the evolution of the red-figure style. Support for these
essays was provided by the
National
Endowment for the Arts.
