Subject Description: The location of the purported findspot--just outside the city gates--suggests that this bust served as a funerary decoration at the tomb of the young man.
Form & Style: Trajanic stylistic elements are the arrangement of the man's hair (in comma-shaped locks across the forehead) and the length of the bust (to the top of the rib cage).
Condition: Nearly complete
Condition Description: The nose and part of the brow have been restored; the chin and lower edge of the bust are slightly chipped; the surface is marred by root marks and a mottled yellow and brown patina.
Material Description: Greek marble, according to Vermeule
