|Summary:||Racetrack; southeast of the Sanctuary of Zeus (Altis), south of the Stadium.|
|Date:||ca. 600 BC - 575 BC|
Oval racetrack with starting gates (and a later stoa) at the western end.
Much of the reconstruction of the Hippodrome is conjectural, based on descriptions of Pausanias, because the changing course of the Alpheios River has washed away nearly all traces, including the stoa (of ca. 380 B.C.), sometimes referred to as the Stoa of Agnaptos.
