Decoration Description:

Side A: Nike stands in the center between two folding stools, where Amphitrite and Poseidon sit facing each other. Nike's wings are spread and her head is turned toward Amphitrite; she holds an oinochoe in her right hand and a flower in her left. Like the other two figures, she is wearing a chiton and himation, and both she and Amphitrite wear fillets. On the left, Amphitrite holds a flower in her left hand and a phiale from which she is pouring wine in her right. Poseidon, wearing a wreath on his head, also pours wine from a phiale in his right hand, while his left hand is holding his trident, whose tines extend beyond the border of the scene. Added red is used for Nike's and Amphitrite's fillets and their flowers, Poseidon's wreath, the wine, and the inscription.

Side B: trainer and athletes. The wreathed trainer in the center is flanked by two boxers. The trainer is turned to the back, although he looks over his shoulder at the left-hand boxer and seems to talk to him, and points his feet to the right. The trainer wears a himation over his left shoulder, holds a wand in his right hand, and what appear to be two styluses in his left. Both athletes hold thongs, which are drawn in relief lines. Added red occurs on the trainer's wreath.

On both sides relief contours prevail; only hair outlines are reserved. Tongues run in a band around the shoulder. The sides of both panels are bounded by net patterns, while a band of checkers defines the bottom. The checkers are underlined by two narrow bands of applied red.

The scene on side A is discussed by Erika Simon as a variant of a common depiction of Zeus and Hera, in Simon 1953, pp. 58ff. According to Simon the winged figure is to be identified as Iris, rather than Nike.

Remains of letters are visible in the field behind Nike.

Graffiti:

An incomplete graffito appears on the underside of the foot.
