, the immigrant who settled at Braintree. His branch of the family appears to have gone to Medfield. His parents were Elisha Adams, Jr., and Caroline (Boy-den) of Walpole, and their residence is given as Dorchester or Medford. All the children, save Edwin, were born in Dorchester. Though his birth is not on our town records (like others previously mentioned in this paper), an Adams genealogy, numerous encyclopedias and biographies state that Edwin Adams was born in Medford, Mass., February 3, 1834. As he was an actor of considerable note we will not challenge this statement, but let Medford have the glory given her of having produced another genius within her borders. His first appearance on the stage was as Stephen in The Hunchback at the National Theater, Boston, August 29, 1853.
