Since I saw Mr. Higginson cast his vote, I have never failed to take off my hat when casting mine. In 1892, Colonel Higginson's devoted sister Anna died, and he wrote, It was a touching thing thus to close the half century of our family's residence in Brattleboro, where they went in 1842.
