He was a good commander, and much beloved by all for his distinguished courage. It only remains to speak of the men of Company E, who, unless otherwise designated, entered service August 12, 1862. Abbott, Jesse B., honorably discharged May 16, 1865; died in Cambridge February 18, 1873. Allen, James M., taken prisoner August 19, 1864; died at Salisbury, N. C., November 23, 1864. Arnold, William J., wounded May 8, 1864; honorably discharged May 20, 1865; died at Ashland in 1905. Baker, William A., went out as corporal; reduced to private, June, 1863; discharged for disability October 26, 1863; died in Cambridge March 25, 1897. Bean, George W., went out as corporal; taken prisoner October 11, 1863; in prison seventeen months; discharged from service May 12, 1865; on the Somerville police force; retired; lives in Cambridge.
