Mr. John Bell Bigger, of this city, was elected Clerk of the House by a vote of forty-eight to forty-four, over Mr. Gordon, the former clerk. Mr. John B. Baldwin, of Augusta, was elected Speaker by a vote of 49 to 42 over F. N. Watkins, of Prince Edward. On taking the chair, Mr. Baldwin delivered an address, which iMr. Baldwin delivered an address, which is remarkable for its pith and brevity and the wide contrast between it and all addresses from the Chair heretofore. In this brief resume of the doings of the Legislature we find room for it bodily.
