be tendered to A. S. Buford, President, and Franklin Stearns, Wood Bouldin, W. T. Sutherlin and A. F. Harvey, Directors, and to John D. Harvey, W. T. Clark and E. F. Keen for their liberality and promptness in pledging themselves individually on notes and bonds, for large amounts of money, to sustain the interests and credit of this Company."
Mr. Jones moved that the folowing gentlemen be the Committee of Examination for the road: David J. Burr, Thomas S. Flourney, Thomas D. Neal, Elisha Barksdale and A. D. Towns.
Mr. Keen moved to substitute the name of Mr. William M. Treadway for that of Mr. Towns.
Mr. Treadway hoped that his friend would withdraw his name.
Mr. Keen declined to comply with the request.
Mr. Keen's motion was agreed to — ayes 26, noes 20.
Mr. Jones's motion was then adopted.
