New cure for Burns.
--A new cure for burns is noticed as infallible by Los Mondes. The affected part is kept under water, in a basin, or a bath, the negative pole of a Volta Farradiae apparats is put in communication with the water, while the positive pole communicates with some part of the body out of the water and near the injury.
The patient feels no pain, and the inflammation is subdued generally in an hour.
When the whole person has been in flame the patient must be put into a bath, with the negative pole in the direction of the foot, and the positive one touching the shape of the neck.
Some of the water must be changed every 15 minutes to prevent it becoming warm.
Reprehensible
--The practice of bringing before the Mayor of this city mere children for charges of petty thefts, &c., is one which should merit censure from the legal authorities and our citizens generally.
Yesterday morning two little boys, named Richard Conen and Morgan Burns, of respectable appearance and demeanor, one of whom was only seven years of age, and the other about nine, were arraigned on the complaint Thos. H. Owens of stealing from his residence a gold watch a few days since.
Owens's testimony threw strong suspicion on the accused; but every one who witnessed the distress of these children, and heard their protestations against any intent to commit a wrong, as well as denial of the charge, entertained only one opinion, and that was, that parental jurisdiction and punishment was the most proper tribunal to have carried the case, and not a Court of Justice, which is only intended for the most hardened criminals, whose age and experience should teach them the magn
