Terrible Railroad Accident in England. --Three persons were killed and about four hundred wounded more or less severely by a railroad disaster, on the 27th ult., on the line between Leicester and London. While a train of excursionists was standing at Market Harborough, it was run into from behind by a train at full speed, and a terrible scene ensued. Most of the sufferers belonged to Burton upon Trent. It is said the trains left London within five minutes of each other.
was postponed until the next term, and the prisoner set at large upon bail. The trial of Edward Keeling, indicted for felony, was also postponed until the next term, and the prisoner remanded to jail. John Latigan was tried for stealing a sum of money from J. R. Keiningham, and convicted and sent to the Penitentiary for two years. James Austin was tried for felony and acquitted. Upon petition of Edmand F. Goode, setting forth that his son was unlawfully held by Capt. W. S. Reid, a writ of habeas corpus was awaited commanding Capt. Reid to bring H. C. Goode before the Court to-day at 1 P. M. The Court adjourned until 10 o'clock this morning. The Supreme Court of Appeals adjourned to meet on the 12th of October, and will sit if a sufficient number of Judges are in attendance. The C. S. District Court, Judge J. D. Haly Burton, will sit on the 10th instant, and it is contemplated that the Court will be occupied in the trial of several important felony cases.
