The Philadelphia Ledger, in an account of the arrest of Mr. Pierce Butler, says: After an extended and diligent search of the entire promises, nothing was found to directly implicate Butler in any design against the Government. As the prisoner was placed in the carriage, the lady of the house asked: "When will you return, Mr. Butler?" And the person addressed replied in a nonchalant way: "Oh, as soo vile at Fort Hamilton, New York harbor. The antecedents of Pierce Butler are well known to our citizens. He is, we believe, a native ofbe very wealthy. Philadelphia, August 20.--It appears that Pierce Butler was the only one arrested here yesterday by the Government auth. B. Reed, George M. Wharton, and others, but it is believed that Mr. Butler is the only one who really has been arrested. The arrest of MMr. Pierce Butler, in Philadelphia, seems to have been made on the assumption that the Federal Government had seized a parcel of letters on th
