Stealing a watch. --Yesterday morning a young man, who gave his name as Henry C. Clark, was before the Mayor, charged with stealing a gold watch from Theodore Hollins, on the 28th of October. Clark was arrested in Petersburg, by officer Donnan, of that city, and admitted that he sold the watch claimed by Hollins to Mark Davis, for $600; but said he purchased it of an officer at the Petersburg depot, and could prove the fact. That young man accompanied him to the American Hotel, and left him on the steps. The next morning when he awoke his watch and about $200 had been taken from him. The watch and chain were his, and could be identified by others. The prisoner expects to prove that he was in Petersburg, where he has been stationed for six weeks, at the time of the robbery, and that he came honestly by the property. The Mayor remanded
