Recovered. --Constable George W. Thomas, of Henrico, succeeded yesterday in recovering one of a splendid pair of Navy Colt's Pistols, stolen from Col. Solomon Williams, of the Second North Carolina Regiment of volunteers during their encampment near this city. The recovered article will be sent to Col. Williams, while Constable Thomas will endeavor to ascertain the whereabouts of the other pistol.
A twenty-four mile Race over the Union Covers --On Tuesday there was a trotting match for two thousand dollars on the Union Course, Long Island N. Y., between the br. g. Batavia Colt, entered by D. Tallman, and brig Regged Sailor, entered by the owner. The distance trotted was twenty-four miles, and the time was one hour, thirty minutes and fifty five seconds. The match was won by the Batavia Colt. There was a large number of persons present, and from the start the winner had the call, at one hundred dollars to fifty dollars. It is said to be the great twenty-four mile trot on record.
