Death of a Department officer--Ex-President Tyler. Washington, Jan, 24. --Second Assistant Postmaster General Dundas, died this morning, after a protracted illness. Secretary Holt took leave of the Post-Office Department this morning, to assume the War Department. Ex-President Tyler, from Virginia, arrived this morning. He had a long and satisfactory and friendly interview with the President to-day. The latter expressed the belief that there would be no collision between the Federal and State troops during the remainder of his Administration, and that he should certainly use every effort to prevent it and to preserve the peace. Mr. Tyler will probably remain here till the 4th of February, to meet the Commissioners from the States. The Senate, in Executive session, to-day, confirmed the appointment of Capt, Hack, of New Jersey, as Quartermaster in the Marine Corps.
