o the families without any charge. The currency has greatly improved. Within a few days it was down to 15 for one in gold, and transactions were reported at 17 for one in this city. Gold is now slow at 8 for one, and in Brownsville, on the Mexico border, it was being freely exchanged, at last advices, at the rate of 1 for ten in Confederate notes.
