Sherrill sent a launch up St. Andrew's Bay on a reconnaissance; but, on the return of the boat, they were attacked by a party of fifty men, with rifles, one man killed and six severely wounded, including the officer in charge, Acting-Master Jas. Folger. Two brave seamen, Thomas Wylie and James Kitchen, brought the boat off, all the rest being killed or wounded.
