Proud Virginia ! stem, undaunted, Triumphing mid blood and roil; Though the invaders Foot is planted, Tiger like, upon thy soil; Steadfast tho' his eyes despots On thy anties fiercely glout-- Tho' he rule brings chaotic, And his fangs are at thy throat ! Where are they — thy brave defenders, Crown'd with might and martial splendor They whom hate ye hailed with chorals Whose wives left to gather laurel; Gallant Georgians sweeping onward, With their banners treaming sunward, Eyes of light, and souls all glowing, Hearts with triple life overflowing.
