Total weight953,455 lbs. I learn that a compliment, both graceful and merited, is in contemplation of bestowal by our citizens, upon Judge Thomas S. Gholson, for the able and dignified manner with which he has conducted himself as President of the Library Association here, and in token of the continued benefits he has conferred upon the institution, both through his influence and by his means, since its foundation. He is to be requested to sit for his portrait, to be hung up in a prominent place in the Hall of the Association. I sincerely hope the effort may be attended with success. In thus honoring him, they would honor themselves.
