Major T. G. Blewett, it was Resolved, That this meeting unanimously recommend Rev. C. K. Marshall as the chief or principal agent to be appointed under the foregoing resolution. On motion of Hon. Walter Brooke, it was Resolved, That the Chair appoint an Executive Committee to confer with the President, the proper departments of the Confederate States, and the State Government, and with the Rev. C. K. Marshall, in relation to the ends sought to be effected, and to solicit assistance from the people of Mississippi by voluntary contributions. The Chair appointed Messrs. Brooke, Smedes, Harris, Goodman and Blewett, said committee. On motion of Mr. Smedes, it was Resolved, That the papers of Richmond and the papers of Mississippi be requested to publish the proceedings of this meeting, and that an adjourned meeting be held on Wednesday evening, at 8 o'clock, in the Representative Hall of the Capitol, whereat all Mississippians in the city of Richmond are invited to attend.
