Killed--Privates Douglas, McCabe, Lee, Callahan, Boswell, and Pinkston.
Wounded--Corporals Renfrew, McEvoy, Selkirk, Centre, and five others — all being members of regiment or companies enlisted in Tennessee.
It is believed that others were killed at the time the Essex woke them up a day or two before the fight, but it is denied by the officers.
