Horse stealing
--Patrick Haley was arrested and carried before Recorder Caskie yesterday, for stealing and carrying away a bay horse belonging to John W. Hill, of the value of $125. The prisoner was remanded to jail till the 13th inst., when he will undergo a final examination before the Hustings Court for the offence with which he stands charged.
Joseph Tills was put in the cage yesterday as a suspicious character, by order of the Mayor.
In the evening, John R. Skinner and Robert A. Williams, hailing from Louisa county, were put in on the same charge.
Mike O'Connor was arrested, charged with stealing three bundles of smoking tobacco and a lot of chewing tobacco from Bridgford & Co. John McMahon was caged for an assault on his wife.
Owen Riley, for threatening to cut Patrick Haley's throat.

Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.an efficient Company — arrest of a Yankee. Orange Court-House, June 6, 1861.
Capt. Browning's company of cavalry, the Orange Rangers, is now encamped here, ready to be mustered into service.
It would be difficult to find a body of men of more physical power and endurance — of more will, determination and energy.
They will take the field in a few days, and whatever men can do or suffer they will be found fully equal to.
A suspicious character named Patrick Haley, was yesterday committed to our jail on failure to give bond and security for his good behavior, in the penalty of $500. He hails from Vermont. J.
Delivered up.
--Patrick Haley was arrested on Wednesday, by officer Blankinship, for assaulting Lemuel Howard with a cane.
Being brought before the Mayor on yesterday, it appeared that he had deserted from the Montgomery Guard.
The Mayor was handed, by Lieut. Wm. F. English, a requisition from Col. P. T. Moore, for the delivery of Haley to him, to be taken to Manassas Junction; an order was consequently entered that he be delivered to that officer this morning, when the Central cars stacane.
Being brought before the Mayor on yesterday, it appeared that he had deserted from the Montgomery Guard.
The Mayor was handed, by Lieut. Wm. F. English, a requisition from Col. P. T. Moore, for the delivery of Haley to him, to be taken to Manassas Junction; an order was consequently entered that he be delivered to that officer this morning, when the Central cars start.
In the meantime Haley was allowed to go, in company with a policeman, to pack up his knapsack ready for the journey.

Ordinance Violations.
--The Mayor yesterday imposed fines upon the following parties, for violating ordinances of the city: A. Staude, $5, for keeping his bar-room open on Sunday, the 13th inst.
D. H. Brotherton & Co., $2 for selling cigars at their store on Sunday.
E. Ellis, $5, for allowing persons to enter his bar-room through a back alley, on Sunday, for the purpose of imbibing.
Patrick Haley, summoned for a similar offence, was discharged.--Hundley & Cance, $5, for employing an unlicensed vehicle on the streets.
Wm. Gotze appeared to answer a like summons, but assured the Mayor that he used his wagon for the sole purpose of conveying confectionery, of his own manufacture, about the city, being under the impression that no license was required.--To convinced him of his error, the Mayor read the law, which we quote for the benefit of others:
