Horse stealing --Patrick Haley was arrested and carried before Recorder Caskie yesterday, for stealing and carrying away a bay horse belonging to John W. Hill, of the value of $125. The prisoner was remanded to jail till the 13th inst., when he will undergo a final examination before the Hustings Court for the offence with which he stands charged.

A German, by the name of Julius Saeft was examined for stabbing Philip Lange and August Wittsorf, and discharged, it being proven to the satisfaction of the Court that the prisoner acted in self-defence. A fine of ten dollars and the costs of prosecution was imposed on Mrs. Eliza Van-Lew, for permitting her slave to go at large. Patrick Haley, from Rockingham county, charged with stealing a horse, of the value of $125, from Jno.N. Hill, of Harrisonburg, was examined and discharged. Joseph Parrish and William Kinsey, who were convicted some months since before the Court and sentenced to pay fines, were discharged, the Court being satisfied that they were utterly insolvent.

They will take the field in a few days, and whatever men can do or suffer they will be found fully equal to. A suspicious character named Patrick Haley, was yesterday committed to our jail on failure to give bond and security for his good behavior, in the penalty of $500. He hails from Vermont. J.

Being brought before the Mayor on yesterday, it appeared that he had deserted from the Montgomery Guard. The Mayor was handed, by Lieut. Wm. F. English, a requisition from Col. P. T. Moore, for the delivery of Haley to him, to be taken to Manassas Junction; an order was consequently entered that he be delivered to that officer this morning, when the Central cars stacane. Being brought before the Mayor on yesterday, it appeared that he had deserted from the Montgomery Guard. The Mayor was handed, by Lieut. Wm. F. English, a requisition from Col. P. T. Moore, for the delivery of Haley to him, to be taken to Manassas Junction; an order was consequently entered that he be delivered to that officer this morning, when the Central cars start. In the meantime Haley was allowed to go, in company with a policeman, to pack up his knapsack ready for the journey.
Ordinance Violations. --The Mayor yesterday imposed fines upon the following parties, for violating ordinances of the city: A. Staude, $5, for keeping his bar-room open on Sunday, the 13th inst. D. H. Brotherton & Co., $2 for selling cigars at their store on Sunday. E. Ellis, $5, for allowing persons to enter his bar-room through a back alley, on Sunday, for the purpose of imbibing. Patrick Haley, summoned for a similar offence, was discharged.--Hundley & Cance, $5, for employing an unlicensed vehicle on the streets. Wm. Gotze appeared to answer a like summons, but assured the Mayor that he used his wagon for the sole purpose of conveying confectionery, of his own manufacture, about the city, being under the impression that no license was required.--To convinced him of his error, the Mayor read the law, which we quote for the benefit of others: "A license shall be taken out by the owner of every wagon, dray, or cart, which is employed on any street of this city, in t

John Cook was arraigned, charged with felony, in stealing a watch, valued at $10 and other articles from Patrick Haley. Nolle prosequi entered by Attorney for the Commonwealth, and accused discharged from custody. Daily of two silver watches, valued at $75, the sum of $60 in C. S. Treasury notes, $4 in Virginia notes, and a pocket knife of the value of $10. Hustings Court--Judge Lyons's Court was engaged yesterday in the trial of Bernard Gotlich for stealing swine, the property of John Clash, living on Bacon's Quarter Branch. The Jury acquitted prisoner. Thomas Collier and Richard Morris were put on trial for entering the restaurant of John McPherson, near the 1st Market, and stealing $2,200. The trial had not concluded when the Court adjourned, and will be resumed to-day. Called Court--The Aldermen of the Hustings Court were convened in special session yesterday at 11 o'clock at the City Hall, for the examination of Patrick Haley, charged with stealing $65 from Ephraim 8, Dailey. The witness in the case not being present, the examination was adjourned to the regular sitting of the Court on the second Monday in December next.
