e Journal, of October 1st, says: A gentleman arrived in this city yesterday from Danville and brings intelligence as late as Monday evening. General S. B. Backner had arrived at Danville with his command, consisting of about three thousand men, and had occupied General Boyle's residence as his headquarters. The rebels are seizing private property of all descriptions belonging to Union men, and have thus confiscated many horses, large quantities of grain, and provisions of all kinds. Mr. Hall, of Mercury county, was robbed of fourteen hundred bushels of grain. All the churches, the deaf and dumb asylum, and a number of private residences in Danville, have been seized for hospital purposes. The residence of Dr. K. J. Breckinridge has thus been appropriated. They require accommodations for about three thousand sick. The rebels are engaged in fortifying the bridge over Kentucky river, near Camp Dick Robinson, and announce their determination to make a desperate stand there w
