Cutting with a Knife. --The military spirit happy so rampant in the breast of every true Southerner is unfortunately spreading its influence in the breast of the colored population. At least we should judge such to be the case. Jim Fugin, a free colored boy having been inducted into the presence of His Honor yesterday for making an unlawful incision into the " " of Peter Henry, another colored brother, who had offended his dignity by an obtuse remark which he did not choose to explain, and too uttering which Jim thought the requirements of the occasion demanded he should exact "blood". He had the latter art of the offending darkey, and subsequently experienced an arrest, which led to his being ordered as whipping yesterday by the Mayor.--The punishment on both sides was thought to be thus equalized and so the case was adjourned "without day."--i. e., dismissed.
