The Black Republican correspondent of the Northern Associated Press communicates the following: Fortress Monroe, Aug. 6.--General Butler returned to Old Point this morning. Nothing has yet transpired as to his remaining here, but it is understood that the Federal army at Fortress Monroe is to be greatly increased. The General has spent the afternoon at Newport News, experimenting with Hotchkiss shells. Hampton will be reoccupied on the arrival of the first regiment from the North. [We think that is somewhat doubtful.] Lieut. Crosby, who conducted the successful expedition to Accomac and Northampton, on the Eastern Shore, will leave Old Point in the morning with an effective force for a similar purpose.
