ouler, I, 50. Orders were accordingly issued to Colonel Jones of the 6th Regiment (at Lowell), Colonel Packardew York and thence to Fortress Monroe. The 6th (Colonel Jones) left for Washington by rail, but at a later houe last-named city, or just after leaving it, Col. Edward F. Jones, the commander, received intimation that theo serious trouble. It had been the intention of Colonel Jones to do this; and twenty rounds of ball cartridgesa mile; and this practice, previously unknown to Colonel Jones, was followed at this time. The effect was of ccars, containing seven companies, with which was Colonel Jones, went through in safety, except that the last ca in the cars, the blinds were closed by order of Colonel Jones, and the regiment about 1 P.
