We, the ladies of Smithfield and its vicinity, have reorganized ourselves into a Relief Society for the benefit of all the regiments and companies of soldiers in our vicinity who may have work necessary to be done.

Resolved 1st, That each member may either come at the appointed hour of meeting or contribute to the Society treasury, as may beet suit her convenience.
That a copy of these proceedings be sent to each Colonel in command in our vicinity.
That a copy of these proceedings be sent for publication to the Richmond Dispatch, Petersburg Express, and the Norfolk Day Book Miss N. W. Powell, Secretary. Smithfield, Aug. 21, 1861.
