Jack O'Donnell was brought up for assaulting and beating an old woman named Catherine Riley.
The latter testified to a slap which she said O'Donnell gave her. Per contra, witnesses on behalf of O'Donnall proved that he had given Mrs. Riley (who is a refugee from Baltimore) a house to live in, and that, proving quarrelsome and disagreeable, he had tried to get rid of her by persuasion.
