Kellogg, Martin 1828- Educator; born in Vernon, Conn., March 15, 1828; graduated at Yale College in 1850; went to California as a Congregational clergyman; was Professor of Latin in the old California College in 1859-69; and in 1869, when the University of California was founded, became Professor of Ancient Languages there. He held the chair till 1893, when he was elected president of the university.
