Prisoner Accidentally killed. --As the guard of the Libby prison were leading their muskets in front of the prison on Tuesday morning, the piece of private Charles Webber, of the 18th Va. Battalion, accidently exploded, the ball killing one and wounding another of the Yankee prisoners who were looking out of the front windows of the building. Lt. G. D. Forsyth, of the 100th Ohio, was killed, the ball passing through his head. Lt. B. O. Kelly was wounded in the neck. The testimony of a number of witnesses, among whom were several Yankee officers, established the fact that the shooting was purely accidental.
--Last Monday night the dwelling-house of Dr. Charles E. Anderson, corner of Marshall and Foushee streets, was broken into by thieves, who stole a half barrel of herrings, a lot of soap, and thirty-six breakfast plates. Yesterday morning officer Kelly found the stolen articles in the house of Mrs. Mary Freylogle, in Screamersville. The officer took Mrs. Freylogle into custody, when she stated that a fellow named Jack Ford and two negroes had brought the things to her house. Officer Kellyel of herrings, a lot of soap, and thirty-six breakfast plates. Yesterday morning officer Kelly found the stolen articles in the house of Mrs. Mary Freylogle, in Screamersville. The officer took Mrs. Freylogle into custody, when she stated that a fellow named Jack Ford and two negroes had brought the things to her house. Officer Kelly in the course of the day succeeded in finding and arresting Jack Ford. Ford is believed to be a deserter. The case will come before the Mayor this morning.
