afternoon, in compliance with orders, I sent Mitchell's brigade to the support of a part of our linhind to guard the trains, resumed the march. Mitchell's brigade had the advance and pushed rapidly on the west side of the Oostenaula River. Colonel Mitchell reported the enemy in strong force in hisad close up to the enemy's works.
