A Fruitless chase.
--A man named Timothy Moran, living near Stuart's eating-house, in rear of the Old Market-house, was charged by several soldiers on Wednesday night with stealing a sword and several other pieces of military toggery.
They gave chase after him, but getting on the back of the first horse he could find he was successful in eluding their pursuit.
On turning into Franklin street he encountered two of the Provost Guard, or City Battalion, who, hearing the outcry, tried to halt him, but he would not stop.
They discharged their muskets at him, but with what result is not known, as the fugitive kept on up Franklin street at a killing pace.
