A Reminiscence. Among the Federal army surgeons taken by our troops in the recent battles, and now in this city, is Dr. Owen Munson, hailing from Western New York. He formerly resided in Augusta. Ga., where he practised dentistry, and was known as an ardent pro-slavery man, a leader of religious meetings, and a Psalm-singing apostle of the church to which he was attached. The hypocrisy of his nature, however, could not be long concealed, and, by way of illustration, we will relate an incident of his career, while palming himself off upon the Georgians as a man of high and holy aspirations. On one occasion he purchased a negro dentist, and promised him, provided he would pay him his earnings for a stipulated period, together with some fifty per cent, upon the amount of the original purchase money, that he should be set at liberty and left free to act for himself afterwards.
