Ranaway.
--$50 Reward — Ranaway, from my farm in Henrico co., on the night of the 23d inst., four negro men, to with Isham, Abram, Jack and Pleasants.
Isham is an old man, about 55 years old; when spoken to looks down — Abram is a tall, brown mulatto, aged 25 years--Jack is 45 years old, and has one leg very much swollen — Pleasants, aged 20 years, stammers when spoken to I will give the above reward for the delivery of said negroes or secured in any jail so I can get them, or $12.50 for my farm in Henrico co., on the night of the 23d inst., four negro men, to with Isham, Abram, Jack and Pleasants.

The police.
--The day police of the city, that in former times consulted only of Clement White and Wm. Byrd Page, owing to the growth of the city and the requirements of the times has been increased to eleven.
We append a list of names of the present force, viz: Reuben T. Seal, R. H. Chalkley, B. M. Morris, Wm. N. Kelley, A. D. Quarles.
M. Adams, W. T. Bibb, John A. Davis, John D Perrin, Caleb Crone, and Washington A. Griffin.
The night watch comprises a force of forty men, who, by ordinance of the Council, are compelled to reside in the city.
This force is officered as follows:
Captain, James B. Pleasants, (elected by the people;) 1st Lieutenant, L. M. Carter; 2d Lieutenant, Theodore Baptist; 3d Lieutenant. Augustus R. Cousins.
Burglar caught.
--It will be recollected that one night about a week ago the smoke house of Major William Allen, on Leigh street, between 7th and 8th, was broken into and robbed of a quantity of sausage, lard, bacon, beef tongues, &c. Yesterday officer Davis and Capt. James B. Pleasants, of the night watch, received information that Robert Patterson, a white man living over Russell's stable on Wall street, was the thief, and immediately went in search of him. They found him and a woman named Amanda Logan in a room in the third story over the stable mentioned, and in the room, on search, found the sausage, lard, and most of the stolen articles.
As Davis was bringing Patterson down the stairs, the latter jumped out of the 2d story back window and tried to escape by running.
Davis followed him out of the window and pursued him and shot at him as he went up the alley leading to the Exchange Hotel.

Mayor's Court.
--George Mack, of Philadelphia, charged with burglary at the store of John G. Regnault, was arraigned yesterday but the case was continued until Friday morning at eleven o'clock in consequence of the absence of Captain James B. Pleasants, who was shot a few nights ago while endeavoring to arrest Mack and his comrades.
Nicholas Fox, charged with drunkenness.
Case continued until to-day.
J. J. Horne, charged with attempting to violate the person of a little girl named Minnie Donovan, was admitted to bail in the sum of five hundred dollars for his appearance before the Hustings Court.
A. G. Babcock, charged with threatening to assault E. V. Menzel.
Charge withdrawn and case dismissed.
William V. Barker, charged with threatening to kill his father, George Barker, was sent before a county magistrate.
