the meeting, and moved the appointment of a committee of ten to solicit contributions in aid of the needy refugees. In the subsequent proceedings of the meeting, this committee was increased to thirty, and consists of the following gentlemen: R R Howison. Gabriel Johnson, Wm S Gilman, Jas B Sener, M A Blankman, Wm S Barton, John E. Tackett, J B. Wood, B. H Smith, Hugh W Fry, D H London, A Y. Stokes, R P Richardson, W. P Munford, I A Sullivan, J D. Harvey, Ro Briggs W J Eups, W F Butler, J A Hobson, Samuel M Price, S B French, J P Little, A A Little, R H Maury, P V Daniel, G Z Miles, S H Owens S J Harrison, John Purcell, and John Enders. The name of the Chairman was added to the committee, and R. R. Howison made the treasurer. A collection in the meeting resulted in the contribution of over $500. The committee is expected to meet this evening at the office of R R. Howison, on Governor street, at 7½ o'clock, to perfect their arrangements for carrying out the objects of the meeting.
