Resisting the dog Catchers.
--A negro man named Sidney, slave of John Purcell, not liking the liberty which the police were taking with his dog, resisted his capture with considerable earnestness.
The colored knight of the net, who preceded the cavalcade, had barely raised his implement of office, with which he was to clamp Sidney's dog, before he was tackled on to by the owner and violently thrown off. The animal thereby escaped; but the offender against the law was soon arrested by the officers and locked up in the upper station house till this morning, when he will be brought before the Mayor.
