Distressing Casualty. --Intelligence was received here yesterday by private letters that Miss. LI only child of Col. A. Sidney Robertson, of West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, and previously for many years a resident of this city, was drowned in the Mississippi, at her father's residence, on the evening of the 5th of April. She was walking for amusement along the bank of the river, in company with some of her schoolmates, and stepped upon a piece of earth which had been undermined by thg affliction, her body, it was supposed, would not be recovered, as the river was very high and the current very swift. LI was fourteen years old, and her sudden and shocking death has been a crushing blow to her devoted parents. She was an and promising girl, beloved by all who knew her, and her melancholy fate will be deeply in this community, where Col. Robertson has many old friends and acquaintances who warmly sympathize with him on this distressing occasion.--Petersburg Express.
