It seems that he was engaged near a standing freight train on the track, the train being uncoupled in the middle, but the cars so near together that one passing between them had barely room by turning sideways as they passed the bumpers.
Mr. Schofield had repeatedly passed this dangerous point, but at the fatal moment, when the train backed, gaged near a standing freight train on the track, the train being uncoupled in the middle, but the cars so near together that one passing between them had barely room by turning sideways as they passed the bumpers.
