Mayor's Court.
--The following cases; in addition to a dozen or so negroes, arrested some without papers and others with improper ones, who were whipped, occupied the attention of the Mayor yesterday morning:
Joseph Burnett, a free negro, charged with assaulting and beating Susan Larmon, a white woman, with a stick, was committed for a hearing this morning.
The case of Carter, slave of Franklin Stearns, charged with stealing a box of tobacco valued at six hundred dollars, the property of Robert J. Christian, was further continued in order to secure the attendance of material witnesses.
Alexander Drake, white, was held to security for his good behavior in the sum of three hundred dollars, on the charge of assaulting and beating Cornelius Bransford.
Samuel A. Carlisle, charged with stealing a paper of brads from Henry Hartman, was sent to the Provost-Marshal.
