Stealing a horse. --James H. Wilson, alias James Toombs, arrested some time since on the charge of stealing a horse from the stable of John B. Stephens, underwent an examination before the Mayor yesterday, and was sent on to the Hustings Court for further trial. The testimony of witnesses for the Commonwealth proved conclusively the guilt of the accused, not withstanding the lame assertion of a man named Henry Tillman, that he had beard, on Saturday night, John Neidham say that Toombs was innocent, and that he himself had stolen the horse. According to Tillman's testimony, Neidham had hardly disclosed to him his connection with the horse stealing before he jumped on the cars and left for Lynchburg. The Mayor paid no regard to his evidence whatever.
