ns saved on a portion of the wreck remained on the wreck from Tuesday night, 9 P. M., 26th, until Friday night, 7 P. M., when we were picked up by the steamer Quincy, Captain G. W. Clapp, in lat. 28.30, long, 86.39, distance from Passe a I'Outre 128 miles. Only four passengers were living at the time; one man, a Spaniard, as death approached, became delirious and jumped overboard, and was drowned, on the morning of the 28th, about half-past 8 A. M., a heavy sea running at the time. The names of the four persons saved were John Nichols, Thomas Cook, James Anaustine, and Charles Sweeny, a passenger. About three hours after we got on this portion of the wreck we saw another large piece with five persons on it, which kept in sight for about one hour, and then we lost sight of it. During the time we had nothing to eat or drink until Friday morning, about 6 A. M., when we picked up a demijohn of vinegar, which we used for bathing such portions of our body as were exposed to the sun.
