The Daily Dispatch: March 11, 1861., [Electronic resource], Over thirty emigrant ships due. (search)
Over thirty emigrant ships due.
--There are now more than thirty emigrant ships over-due at New York, some of which have been at sea since the middle of January. Eleven of the number sailed from Liverpool, six from London, and the remainder from Havre, Hamburg and other posts.
These long voyages, of course, are owing to the severe weather and contrary winds.
