The Daily Dispatch: January 18, 1864., [Electronic resource], Furloughs for Recruits for Genlee's Army. (search)
The prisons. --Out of the eighteen Yankee deserters who escaped from Castle Thunder on Thursday night last, six had been captured and brought back up to last night.--With the exception of two or three, who, it is believed, have escaped down the Peninsula, there is no doubt but the whole batch will be retaken before another sunset. One hundred and forty nine Yankee prisoners were received at the Libby prison on Saturday. They are the last of the three or four hundred captured by Gen. Wm. E. Jones some time since near Jonesville, Tenn. At the Cage there have been no commitments since our last worthy of interest.
