Information has been received in this city through private sources, that the extensive and valuable salt works in Louisiana, on Latouche river, were recently captured by the Federal expedition fitted out in New Orleans, and commanded by Brigadier-General Wetzel.
We were unable to gather the particulars of the affair, but regret to state that our forces there, some five hundred in number after a stubborn and fierce resistance, were compelled to surrender to an overpo through private sources, that the extensive and valuable salt works in Louisiana, on Latouche river, were recently captured by the Federal expedition fitted out in New Orleans, and commanded by Brigadier-General Wetzel.
