easure. --Within the six months past, treasure in gold and silver bullion to the amount of twelve million of dollars has passed through the portals of Oregon on its way from the rich gold and silver highlands of Idaho, the western portion of Montana, and a bit of British Columbia. A Great Country.--A letter, received at the Treasury Department a few days since from the Collector of Internal Revenue for the Territory of Montana, announced that the product of the gold and silver mines of the Territory for the current year will be upward of sixteen millions of dollars. We wonder what proportion of the people of this city have any idea where Montana is? Those who have heard of it at all, have probably a general notion that it is away off somewhere near to where the sun sets; but whether it is east or west of the Missouri river, west or east of the Rocky Mountains, only those who are fortunate enough to possess a recent, and, what is more, a correct map, will be able to tell.
