Emma E. Renwick, of Newberry, S. C., a daughter of Col. J. S. Renwick, and they have five children living. He is first lieutenant commander of James D. Nance camp, U. C. V., also of the Confederate surgeons survivors' association of South Carolina. Major William H. Casson, a gallant survivor of the Second South Carolina regiment, is a native of Pennsylvania, born at Philadelphia in 1816. During his infancy his parents removed to Delaware, and he was reared and educated at Wilmington and Dover. In 1836 he removed to Columbia, and there in 1839 was married to Sarah Wilson, by whom he had two children, James H. and Sarah A. For four years prior to the secession of the State Mr. Casson was captain commanding the Governor's Guards, a fine military organization which went into active service early in 1861, as Company A, Second regiment of infantry. After the fall of Fort Sumter he went with his company and three others to Virginia, and served there in the rank of captain until promo
