The rice crop. --The harvesting of the rice commenced about ten days ago on the Savannah and Ogeechee rivers, and we may say generally that a better crop has not been made for years. It met with no disaster during the growing season, and is large and fully headed out. The continuous rains since it has been cut may damage it somewhat, but it can stand a good deal of wet weather without serious effect upon the grain. The inland plantations, in many sections, would have done better with more rain to fill up the ponds, but still we hear the crop is a very fair one.--Savannah Republican, 9th.
